Laser Cutting

Lasers are widely used in fashion & textiles and the promotional gifts industry where the lasers uses include cutting appliqués for embroidery, pattern cutting and engraving designs on fabrics. engraving logos and designs on metal, wood , glass and plastic. There are two types of lasers CO2 and YAG lasers which perform different functions, CO2 being the most widely used.

Cutting Fabrics

The edges of most synthetic fabrics are sealed when laser cut, preventing fraying, so patterns may be cut into the material. This is used in a variety of applications including applique.

Accessories

Laser engraving machines may be used to engrave patterns and logos into leather. onto metals, glass, wood and plastics. Rotary attachments are used to laser engrave glass stemware, pens and trophies and similar objects. Here are some examples of what you can laser engrave onto fabric

Appliqué

The embroidery industry have used lasers for appliqué. By cutting pieces of fabric which are then used in the embrodiery design to reduce the amount of stitches. A more recent development is reverse appliqué, this technique is done on a Graphixscan machine where fabric is positioned underneath a garment and then the laser cuts through the top fabric, exposing the material underneath.
